THE WOMEN OF SOUTH LONDON PHOTOBOOK

These photographs were taken between March 2024 and April 2026. This book started by photographing a close friend...This inspired me to do an open call on instagram and the idea of creating the book started from there.

All women featured are shot on 35mm film in places which hold significance to them. Julita led me through Brixton's markets speaking of how when the sun shines, Brixton’s streets sing echoes of her motherland, the Dominican Republic. Yas took me to the gardens she played in as a child on her grandmother's estate in Lewisham. Shanay took me to the Library in Manor Park that she went to almost everyday after school.

This book is a love letter to the ends and a celebration of the rich history of migration, resistance and creativity South London is built on.
